THIS MORNING, RED CENTRE
$6,000

I had travelled to Kata-Tjuta,Uluṟu..Kings Canyon and much more,(but generally the red centre).
This was with my young family in 2014. Driving from Darwin we spent a little over two weeks, discovering many mysterious and beautiful places. I had dreamed about visiting Uluru since a teenager. The thought of following some of my artist heroes especially to Kata-Tjuta (Lloyd Rees various views of ‘The Olga’s’, was also a great motivation …)
I had been more than two decades away from painting due to health reasons…and thinking on this trip I really only need to take photos? So I did …but as it turned out, this trip showed me ,…told me …that l needed to start painting again.
In 2018 I started painting again and I haven’t stopped since.
My main focus has always been sea and landscape. The environment in short.
I’d describe myself as a re-emerging artist.

Artist Statement: I have had many occupations but painted since childhood.
I attended Tasmanian Centre for the Arts as a mid life student. I gained a double major degree in Fine Art and Design in1991 majoring in Painting and Sculpture ….I then went on to make my own furniture..(one off tables mostly, which I sold through various galleries in Melbourne.
.I came to the Territory as an older dad ..in 2010 ..and had the good fortune to visit Uluru and Kata-tjuta in 2014, which was a life changing journey ..it bought me back to painting, which I’ve been doing pretty much full time since 2018.
I am yet to have a solo exhibition in the Territory ..but have sold work through various art fares and sporadic appearances at Nightcliff and Mindle markets. At the moment I’m setting up a larger studio gallery in Winnellie.
