AQUATIC CALLING

Aquatic calling is about that feeling of peace and calmness when surrounded by water. No matter if it’s a lake, ocean or river once you’re there you feel in complete zen. That feeling of needing to go to the beach or needing to visit out bush again is how we connect with the land.
The greens and blues are to capture two different waterways, salt water and fresh water. The two contrasted symbols are also to represent that. This piece was inspired by the trips my family and I have gone on to waterholes and other aquatic environments, the people representing us and bonding with the land and others.

Artist Statement: I am a young First Nations woman who connects with my culture through art. My ancestors’ lands are Ampilatwatja and Borroloola, and due to colonisation I never got to learn my cultures’ traditions, such as painting. But my passion for my culture and art continue to grow. Which is why I bring to you a more modern and unique style of art.
I create Contemporary Aboriginal Art using a variety of techniques, styles and colour themes. I mainly paint art that represents my love for Country and Nature. But all of my pieces hold some sort of feeling or story.
