YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL

“Women have been sold the lie that progress means that they can have it all, when in reality it means we are doing paid work outside of the home while continuing to do all the unpaid, invisible work in the home. We are now both the breadwinners and the house keepers…something has got to give.” – Gretel Bull
‘You Can Have It All’ is part of Sara’s ongoing series, ‘Balm’, depicting women and non-binary people in their homes in Mparntwe. A commentary on the gender labour disparity in Australia, Sara and their subjects share experiences about their collective experiences of domestic, emotional, logistical and advocacy labour, resulting in a cinematic documentary series of intimate and vulnerable portraits.
