LAST SHEAR ON THE STATION
$1,200

Growing up on the farm all I wanted to do was to get out, and joining the Military was my ticket out. But once you’re gone and out in the world you always will feel the pull home. It’s a connection I can’t explain, but one that has always brought me home. The loss of my father last year really re-enforced that connection to the place where I began my journey. Even thought my siblings and I have all been on our own journeys, we never forget the place it started.

This artwork is from visiting the station that my wife grew up on for the last shear on that station before they transitioned to sheep that don’t need shearing due to a lack of shearers in the area. The end of the tradition that had been happening in that shed for a long time was an emotional time for all. Again is represents the roots that my wife and I both came from.

Artist Statement: I re-discovered the wonder of drawing about 7 years ago as a way to manage my mental health while working in stressful role as a manager for a large multinational corporation. After doing one Adult night course, I started drawing and painting whenever I had a spare moment and started carrying a note book everywhere I went. I like to experiment and try new mediums and methods. My number one love right now, is watercolour and ink. I like to express my emotions and memories through art and find the more emotional a piece the more expressive the colours.
