In this painting, I aimed to capture the serene majesty of the Northern Territory wetlands under a dramatic mackerel sky. The textured, scale-like clouds above create a dynamic canopy, reflecting the shifting patterns of the landscape below. The scene is brought to life by the presence of Jabiru birds and a great white egret, whose elegant forms and graceful movements contrast with the sky’s grandeur. Through vibrant colour and dynamic brushwork, I aim to capture the essence of this unique ecosystem—a harmonious interplay between the celestial and the terrestrial, where the delicate balance of nature unfolds.

Artist Statement: Born in India and raised in New Zealand and Australia, I have made Darwin my home for the past 15 years. Art has become a vital refuge and a powerful form of self-expression amidst my ongoing battles with a chronic health condition. This personal journey has shaped my creative practice, which serves as a beacon of hope and resilience. Alongside my artistic endeavours, I work part-time in the Health Department, contributing to improvements as a way to give back to the system that has supported me throughout my health journey. Additionally, I run a small business offering art classes for both children and adults, fostering creativity and community through multiple avenues. This venture thrives with the unwavering support of my generous husband and wonderful children, who inspire and encourage me every day.
