Boab Characters (triptych)
“That lady is laughing!”; “Hello you guys over there”; “Oh, they’re hugging”
There was also a group singing, a family playing and some children getting in trouble from an adult. “Look at that group over there! What are they up to?”
Yet, there wasn’t a human in sight. These little cameos were the scenes created by groups of boabs in the north west of the Northern Territory. After exploring for just a little while I was itching to have art materials in hand to attempt to capture the humanness of these boab characters standing in the unique and colourful northwest landscape.

Artist Statement: Kim moved to Darwin in the Northern Territory almost six years ago. She paints in the little snippets of time between full time work as a minister and motherhood. The big sky, sunsets, colours of diverse landscapes and birdlife of the Northern Territory have been a source of inspiration for Kim, and a constant motivation to forge more moments to paint and create.
