Waves breaking at the shoreline are a resplendent motion of nature. This point, where the energy of the approaching wave reveals itself, is a releasing end. Something in the dynamic fusion of contour and colour stirs the senses, on its way to the soul. And somewhere within the rhythmic repetition are meditative moments to be had.
Waves breaking is a motion of duality. The calm of the curl transforms in to a chaotic white wash and the emerald-cerulean depth is entirely lost on contact. Just as in life, experiences come to a timely completion, always followed by another. Similar and different in their own way, ready to reveal, release and touch us with intended purpose.

Artist Statement: Janelle is a representational artist who creatively explores the world through the disciplines of drawing, painting and photography. She has exhibited locally and interstate in exhibitions and art prizes, including Botanica, the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize, Cossack Art Award and the Holmes Art Prize. She has also participated in numerous projects with the Territory Wildlife Park.
Janelle is a long term resident of Darwin.
