SERENADE
$150
This artwork may seem childish to some, but Picasso spent a lifetime to draw like one. As I grow older, I find myself grasping for opportunities to escape it and feel like a child again. Adulthood is difficult and I often pine for simpler times when I could go play by the pond like I could as a kid.
Dusty, the mushroom sleeping on the lily, is my persona of innocence and wonder. Her she is sleeping calmly on the pond, without a care in the world. The frogs around her sing her serenades. My only wish for her is to stay oblivious to this crazy scary world we live in and let me be the adult for both of us.
Cloud clay and acrylic paint on canvas and varnish too
42 x 29.7cm
Artist Statement: I am a South African now living in Australia with my husband and 2 birds. I have loved making art since I could hold a crayon. I am not on a pursuit of perfection , my art journey is one of learning new craft and finding a place among a community.
The subjects that I draw have evolved over the years and my current obsession is ponds and frogs. I have had the pleasure of meeting several Tree frogs in my own garden in Darwin and am absolutely smitten by them. Australia’s wildlife, fauna and flora inspire me on a daily basis. I love adding a touch of fantasy when I try to capture them in my artwork.
