KATHERINE GORGE
$750

In my watercolour painting, I aim to capture the distinctive beauty of this remarkable landscape. Katherine Gorge, with its dramatic cliffs and winding river, offers a perfect subject for exploring the interplay of light, colour, and form.

Watercolour’s ability to blend and layer colours naturally complements the fluid and ever-changing nature of the gorge. Each piece uses soft washes and gradients to replicate how light and shadow shift across the landscape, capturing both the rugged textures and the tranquil waters.

The palette is inspired by the actual hues of the gorge—earthy ochres, vibrant reds, and dark purple shadows. These colours are applied to highlight the contrast between the towering cliffs and the serene river, reflecting the gorge’s diverse features.

Through this, I hope to offer a glimpse into the gorge’s quiet majesty and intricate details. My goal is to provide viewers with a sense of connection to this natural wonder, capturing its beauty and serene atmosphere.
