SEEDS OF RESILIENCE
$1,500

Dawn Beasley (2024) Seeds of Resilience, Porcelain and Gold.

Seeds of Resilience draws inspiration from the delicate and intricate forms found in nature. This piece is a testament to the fragility of life and the enduring potential for growth and fertility even in the face of environmental adversity.
Crafted from porcelain, the sculpture features red seeds nestled within fragile white husks. These contrasting elements symbolise the tension between vulnerability and strength. The white husks, fragile and decaying, represent the ephemeral nature of life, whilst the vibrant red seeds within signify the promise of new beginnings and the potential for growth.
As the sculpture shucks off its previous form, revealing seeds within seeds, it speaks of the intergenerational symbolism of life. This layer effect highlights the continuity and connection between generations, emphasising how each new beginning is built upon the legacy of the past.
The use of gold in the sculpture serves to elevate the value of both new beginnings and old scars. Gold, a symbol of preciousness and resilience, accentuates the beauty found in imperfections and the personal history that shapes us. It reminds us that every scar, every challenge overcome, adds to the richness of our journey.
Seeds of resilience invites viewers to reflect on their own experience of growth and transformation. It is a celebration of the enduring spirit of life, the beauty of new beginnings, and the strength found in our shared histories.
