FLIGHT HOME TO DARWIN

You know you are almost home when the plane descends through hazy tropical cloud and you can see the river glinting amid lush dark vegetation below, hot and humid, and you know you will soon have to get used to it all over again.

Artist Statement: I came to Darwin in 1977 to take up a teaching job at the Art School at what was then Darwin Community College, which I held for a number years. Previously I was employed at the Art Gallery of South Australia, then taught part-time in art schools in Melbourne, plus painting for solo shows.
