The art and skill involved in designing and making your own teapot, cups and saucers and jug is quite challenging. I love all aspects of making pots and glazes and when my pieces are enjoyed by others the incentive to continue with the infinitely varied options of working with clay keeps me interested and engaged.

For this set I wanted to give the pieces a simple texture which would enhance the beautiful azure glaze similar in colour to the seas around Darwin and the Top End.

Wheel thrown stoneware and handmade glazes

Artist Statement: I have lived in the Northern Territory for 42 years and have worked as a teacher for much of that time, including 16 years as a pottery tutor at Tactile Arts. I enjoy making both functional and non-functional pieces.

I have had a number of Solo exhibitions in Darwin and have participated in numerous group exhibitions interstate.
Townsville City Council has acquired two of my pieces for their permanent collection and The Museum and Art Gallery of the NT (MAGNT) has acquired three of my pieces. I am represented by Paul Johnstone Gallery in Darwin.

I sell my work in a number of retail outlets in Darwin and attend several craft fairs or markets each year.
