Cathy Hilder

WHERE THE BUTTERFLIES LIVE
$350

Cathy Hilder is a visual artist living in the tropical north of Australia. The landscape provides an endless source of inspiration for her work.

Cathy’s present work expresses a love of nature. Few things are as beautiful as plants and wildlife, particularly flowers, so its no wonder they have attracted the attention of artists from ancient times to present. Beyond sheer beauty, flowers provide rich opportunities to play with colour and form.

Cathy has an abstract realist style, working on large scale pieces always with a focus on the dynamics of colour and magnifying the form in intricate detail in her unique style.

Cathy is primarily an oil painter but also explores other mediums such as acrylics, pastels, watercolour, graphite and coloured pencil, pen and ink, paper making, fabric printing, lino cut, collage, spray painting, stained glass and ceramics.

Cathy has always been fascinated by the creative process and the ability of an individual to work across creative platforms, such as art, music, dance, and performing arts, seemingly switching between art forms. The True Creative being.
