Traces Along Scarlet Sands captures the temporality of a landscape where the lines between the physical and metaphysical subtly intertwine. The rocky formations, seemingly imbued with the memories of Place, stand as silent witnesses to the passage of time. This painting explores the tension between the tangible and the ephemeral, with the figure weaving a narrative of the loss of self and the deep connection that arises from being embedded in Place. The viewer is invited to engage in a dialogue with the landscape, where colour, texture, and form challenge perceptions of time and space. This work speaks to the profound sense of belonging that can be found in Place, offering a momentary glimpse into the interconnectedness of all things.

Artist Statement: My work explores the intricate relationship between the human experience and the natural world, delving into themes of identity, memory, and the passage of time. Through the use of oil on raw linen and wood panels, I create landscapes that blur the boundaries between the physical and metaphysical, inviting viewers into a contemplative dialogue with the environment.

The figures in my paintings are intentionally formless and ambiguous, allowing viewers to project their own experiences and emotions onto the canvas. This ambiguity invites a shared participation in the narrative, where personal memories intertwine. Through colour, texture, and composition, I seek to create a space where the viewer can move beyond mere observation, engaging in a temporal and metaphysical exploration of self and Place.

My work is about the human condition—our vulnerability, resilience, and the deep-rooted connections that define our sense of belonging. By immersing viewers in these contemplative landscapes, I hope to evoke a sense of unity and interconnectedness that transcends the individual, offering a momentary glimpse into the timeless dialogue between nature and the self.
