Barbara Williams

JUMPING CROCODILE
$2,500

This work is inspired by the crocodiles inhabiting the Adelaide River in the Northern Territory.

Venturing along the tranquil Adelaide River has been an extraordinary privilege, affording me the chance to witness firsthand the awe-inspiring presence of this apex predator. While simultaneously frightening and captivating, observing and photographing this prehistoric marvel in action is a motivating reminder of the need for respect, understanding and support of the crocodile, the Adelaide River and the wetland habitats.

I have worked with fabric and threads on canvas to express the impressive size and power of a saltwater crocodile exploding from the water’s surface. Emphasizing textures was crucial in capturing the beauty of this creature.
