Artist Statement: Anne-Marie is an NT artist inspired by the colours of the local landscape and Renaissance Fresco. She has recently completed a Masters by Research in Art after completing personal exploration into traditional Italian Buono fresco, and has developed a unique contemporary style of fresco. The tactile 2 Dimensional nature of the medium connects to her earlier training in Ceramics and years of work as a designer. Anne-marie has traveled to the UK and Italy researching fresco and the bas-relief works of Renaissance artist Donatello. Within the layered ebb and flow of paint and plaster, Anne-marie strives to reveal the subject’s energy combined with her own artistic energy. Her paintings explore the flow state, as the tactile materials drive the art creation, and reflect on our multicultural society through the full sensory process of material handling. This practice-led exploration of plaster and paint depicts personal identity and the energy within each subject. Smooth plaster, vibrant paint, and ochres are combined on a waterproof board to create a unique painting wer to look further and connect with the embedded layers.
