The Burl Bowl is an attempt to bring natural organic ‘soul’ into modern homes and lives. To have something to touch and to imagine being in a place of freedom when you can’t be.
There are opposites of gnarls & smooth, walls & holes, swirls & flat.
To be honest, there was only so much control the maker could have over the work. The holes appeared, the shape of the top lip was unavoidable. And no matter how much effort was made, the roughness of the bowl was never going to leave.
