This was a piece created in an attempt to work through grief after my father’s passing. Rather than a traditional portrait to remember him by I found it would be more fitting to capture his essence in more candid spirit and as more of a memory.
This piece was inspired by a photo I’d taken of him. Dad was a landscape painter and had always wanted to see me paint a landscape scenery piece, and though he’ll never see it this is my way of honouring him.

Artist Statement: I work primarily as a tattoo artist nowadays but in my spare time I work with oil paints. Post secondary school I have no formal training in fine art, I’m very much a ‘muck around with mediums until I can figure it out’ kinda gal. I tend to lean toward doing large scale close up portraits.
