Abby Duncan

CROCODILE
$575

I was inspired to paint this piece in particular by my Dad, who suggested painting something that represents the animal that the Northern Territory is notorious for, the salt water crocodile.

I wanted to capture the animal in it’s natural environment, and it’s calm effortless ways of moving through the water.

Acrylic paint on canvas paper

Artist Statement: My name is Abby Duncan and I’m from the Yuin Nation NSW. My family and I moved to the Northern Territory 8 years ago.

Ive always painted and drawn, since I was a little girl. Looking back, I feel like it was a coping mechanism of sort. When my life felt out of control, I would turn to art because it was something that I was in control of. I could always rely on it.

Though it was hard at first, I now love to share my art and I love to hear what my creations mean to other people.
I feel as if my art is an extension of myself and a representation of who I am. Therefore, my art is very precious to me and something I hold very close to my heart.
